STIMMEN. Linguistic Research in Times of War, 1917-1918
GUM
Does science sometimes benefit from war? The story of STIMMEN confronts us with this uncomfortable question. During the First World War, linguist Friedrich Carl Andreas studied five prisoners of war from present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan, making several recordings in the process. Today, you can hear their voices again in a unique sound installation developed for the German university museum FORUM WISSEN.
